Individuals at increased risk of serious outcomes from COVID-19, including individuals older than 60 years and those living with a compromised immune system or chronic condition, should continue to limit nonessential outings. Potential worshippers are encouraged to discern accordingly. Gov’t of Manitoba Guidelines (updated June 2, 2020)

On Sunday, September 27th St. Peter’s worship opportunities will expand. On the 27th, as per usual and for the foreseeable future, 10:30 a.m. Sunday morning Zoom worship will continue, and at 4:00 p.m. that same day, we will hold the first (weekly) in-building worship, including Eucharist, since the middle of March. As far as we know at this time, this new pattern with two Sunday worship opportunities will continue for as long as is necessary and/or possible.

While reopening the building may be a welcome piece of news for some, strict Government and Diocesan COVID-19 precautions will be in place. Health and safety for St. Peter’s and the wider community are a clear priority as we prepare to reopen the building. It may help you to know in advance that this will create a somewhat different experience than what we’re accustomed to when attending worship inside St. Peter’s building. In order to maintain physical distance protocols, the number of people in the building will be limited. Masks are mandatory. Although there will be masks available for those who arrive without one, please try to bring your own. There will not be opportunities to mingle before or after worship. Music will be provided by our music director, but there will be no congregational singing. Humming is permitted. Passing of the Peace will be verbal with no physical touch. Only bread will be received at communion and the method for receiving
will be adjusted accordingly.

If you are planning to attend in-person worship, the following are some things you will need to know:

If you have any questions, please feel free to let me know. Once again, we are aware that many people are not comfortable with public worship at this time. Individuals at increased risk of serious outcomes from COVID-19, are encouraged to discern accordingly. In our attempt to be as inclusive as possible, Sunday morning worship will continue to be available through Zoom for those with internet access.

Created by God, guided by Jesus, and empowered by the Holy Spirit we, as a faith community, have maneuvered our way through the past six months. With God’s help, and in the company of each other, we will continue to be guided through this pandemic. I look forward to worshiping with you, (as far as is possible) virtually or in person, throughout the coming months. If there is anything (beyond what is already being done) that we can be doing to help you become more connected
during this COVID time, please let me know. With God at the centre, each and every one of you is valued and important.

Blessings,
The Rev. Canon Donna Joy
Incumbent, The Anglican Parish of St. Peter
