To explore creation in detail is to come into close contact with the works of God. The doctrine of creation makes it clear that God is the creator of this world. We did not create it. It is not ours. Just as Adam was placed in the Garden of Eden to take care of it, we, too, are placed here to care for a creation which ultimately belongs to God.
In response to The Anglican Church of Canada's fifth Mark of Mission, "To strive to safeguard the integrity of creation and sustain and renew the life of the earth", St. Peter's Creation Care Committee provides leadership to the parish in fostering conscientious care of God's creation. We do this by:
- Promoting opportunities for theological reflection on caring for our planet,
- Advising Corporation and Vestry on environmental policies, products and practices at St. Peter's church,
- Facilitating educational opportunities and awareness,
- Ensuring continuation of current programs for composting, recycling, and indoor and outdoor gardening.
The Creation Care Committee keeps the congregation aware of Environmental concerns and events through the Creation Care notice board in the church hall. Recycling of eyeglasses, print cartridges, batteries, and cell phones is available on an ongoing basis.
