Emerging Artists Exhibition & Sale
Imagine a parish hall buzzing with colour and creativity, with artists displaying the fruits of their labours while attendees appreciate them with the option to take those works home! You’re starting to get a picture of St. Peter’s annual Emerging Artists Exhibition & Sale.
Our next event takes place September 27 to 29, 2024. Artists interested in participating should read the Instructions for Artists, then download and fill out the Application Form before the Tuesday, September 3 deadline.
Back in 2014, a few of our parishioners who are active in Winnipeg’s bustling art community thought St. Peter’s could provide a great opportunity. Getting art displayed at an established venue can be a costly prospect, with galleries taking a large commission. For emerging artists, getting space in a gallery can be even more challenging. St. Peter’s created a more affordable option, once a year with our three-day event, charging only $25 per table and a 25% commission on sales.
There is no cost to attend the event. On Friday evening, we typically host a wine and cheese reception and encourage the public to come and meet our artists, and check out their wares. The exhibition continues on Saturday afternoon and Sunday afternoon to round out the weekend.
The event is well attended, and we’ve been fortunate enough to enjoy a variety of media at the exhibition, including oil, water colour, acrylic, photography, pottery, glasswork, jewelry, sculptures, felting and needlework!
