To explore creation in detail is to come into close contact with the works of God. The doctrine of creation makes it clear that God is the creator of this world. We did not create it. It is not ours. Just as Adam was placed in the Garden of Eden to take care of it, we, too, are placed here to care for a creation which ultimately belongs to God.

St. Peter's approach to Creation Care is described in the parish's Vision Statement #6 - We believe that God is calling us to safeguard the integrity of creation and to sustain and renew the life of the earth.  We work to fulfill this commitment in the following ways:

  • All groups using the building are asked to refrain from using disposable dishes, cutlery, napkins, etc.
  • A policy is in place regarding the responsible use of electric lighting
  • Composting bins are available for parishioners who live in apartments
  • Ongoing recycling of eyeglasses, print cartridges, batteries, and cell phones is available
  • a commitment to using environmentally friendly cleaning products
